I started out in MTC late last year, but it's only now that I finally decided to open a room of my own.

What prompted me to open my own room was that I realize I want to share some experiences and thoughts to many people. Just like yesterday, I went to BFAD and there was this inspector who entertained my inquiry at past 5PM. She was very helpful and informative. She even gave me her personal email in case I have more questions and I needed some forms. Isn't she amazing?

Even if Im nearing 40, it's pretty amazing what you still get to learn everyday. And the most important lessons seem not to come from textbooks but from real life experiences dealing with people and making hard decisions.

So in this room, expect some of my thoughts, my ideas, my dreams and the crisis Im forced to face, I share them and hopefully we can have exchange of ideas and thoughts, and maybe if we are lucky, we learn something from each other. They may not be all correct, but then again, we are mere humans, limited by our own culture and biases.

Have a great day!

When I entered the restaurant, I scanned the crowd.
I saw a sea of faces.
Then I caught your stare
And I held my breath in anticipation of moving closer to you.

You were dressed in black, jeans and boots.
You have that twinkle in your eye
that brings me to girlish giggles.
Oh heart, can't you stop beating wildly for this man?

Such a shame we are in the company of a friend.
The friend has no inkling
that while he was speaking of market share
I was undressing the man beside him.

Time is so slow.
I wanted to get out of there
And go back to my room
Where the promise of passion awaits.

Good Morning Vincent, thanks for dropping by my room.

Good afternoon to the room owner  Interesting anecdote. Methinks there are still a lot of dedicated, hardworking and honest people in government who take the adage 'a public office is a public trust' to heart. We should celebrate their stories.

When are you turning 40? Since I got to 40 ahead of you, let me tell you that the view is grand from where I'm at. Look forward to it B)

Hi, BFAD is now the FDA ... same functions, new name. Lucky you that someone attended to you as they should, because it's their job. Some companies need to do a bit of "PR" to get their product registrations and clearances expedited at the FDA. Other regulatory agencies really take their functions seriously ... acting like unreasonable dictators.

You guys are right. These kinds of encounters are worth mentioning. So let me tell you the whole story.

I went to FDA to attend a seminar which is one of the requirements to get LTO (License to Operate). And after the seminar, which finished at 5pm, I went down and noticed that Im in the Product Services Division. I hesitated to inquire because I know the government employees' habits when it is already 5pm. But what the heck, I travelled so far, I can gamble a letdown.

SO I asked the guard to introduce me to an inspector for cosmetics. And he made me sit inside. I waited for 5 minutes then this girl came. She asked what I needed. And I told her I was quite confused how to go about getting a product registration, and if I really need one. I talked to many people in the past from customs officials to BFAD liaison people, and they tell me I needed one. And she clarified then that I actually do not need Product Registration. What I needed was Product Notification. PRoduct Registration would take 6 months. But Product notification will only take 2 weeks to 1 month. Then she got a paper and wrote down everything I needed to do to comply with Product Notification. I said, "Thank you but your server was down for 3 weeks now, how do i get all these forms?" She list down other sites where I can possibly get the form, but if I still can't get it, I can email her directly for the forms.

Then she told me that if I apply for Product Notification, whoever is sending the documents must know how to defend the ingredients of my product. If not, mahirap na ipasa yung product. And don't worry daw, coz sometimes, one look only and they can already see kung bagsak yung product mo or not, just by looking at the ingredients and how much it contains in your product. So feedback is fast naman.

She entertains queries daw, if Im not sure about anything. I just go to FDA Thursday or Friday, and any inspector would entertain my queries. But it's good if I study first what is banned and what is not , I have to study the ingredients first so we have a common ground for discussion. I said , of course, I will do my part.

Gosh, I left the place with such a joyous heart.

Good luck on your venture, Erika. Suggest you don't take their word for it ... ask for (or research) the specific guidelines, administrative order, implementing rules and regulations or even the Republic Act itself that governs your product/industry. It pays to know just in case you'll need to argue your case.

I went to my old university and met my long time friend now based in New York, heading the Pure Mathematics Center in a university.

He called me up to meet him and I hurriedly left my office work and drove to Katipunan. It is a rare occasion to meet a very good friend who you haven't seen in a decade. I am very excited to see him once again.

Walking along the halls of my university, I can't help but be reduced to a young unsure student I once were, terrified of seeing my professors. So many buildings have sprouted in our school that I had trouble looking for our department. I continued walking on. I noticed that the girls are still wearing those short shorts. I guess short shorts will be a classic in this university. In my time, many professors rallied against wearing short shorts and petitioned the school not to allow them to wear such revealing clothes. To which the Jesuits replied, " but why would you prohibit them , they look good wearing those short shorts." And that ended the issue once and for all. Posted Image

I finally got my nerve and went inside the department. I was surprised that most of my professors are still there. They never left the university. Wow! Some things really don't change. They warmly welcome me. And I was a bit touched when they grabbed their cameras and asked me to pose with them. Some even drew out my old problem sets. As we reminisce the past, I felt a kind of comfort that I haven't felt in years. I'm with people like me.

You know what? I realized that we have to do this once in a while. Go back to our roots and be with people who are closest to you. They remind us who we really are. Life can get so busy that we sometimes lose ourselves in it. And we lose perspective on what we do and who we encounter everyday. At times, we see ourselves acting out of character, or deciding on matters that are against our principles. It's nice to go back. If not for anything, it's nice to just close your eyes and rest your guard because you are with people you trust won't judge you and use you.
