Duterte's Presidency : Expectations, Controversies, Rants, Etc.

Tsaka masaya kaya bumiyahe on the road. That is why I so much get Mam Leni Robredo why she opts it.

Ganon talaga buhay may bida at may kontra bida haha.

Agree with you on the separation of church and state.

Duterte needs to show that even if he is close to Quiboloy, quiboloy should not meddle with state affairs (although if Du30 said quiboloy will donate the private jet to the government for his use then malabong walang say yan si quiboloy)

Digong.

TO HELP DIGONG | Lacson to push for passage of bill that seeks to empower LGUs, curb crime

http://interaksyon.com/article/128028/to-help-digong--lacson-to-push-for-passage-of-bill-that-seeks-to-empower-lgus-curb-crime

MANILA, Philippines – Senator-elect Panfilo M. Lacson on Friday said he would push for the enactment of a bill that supports the incoming administration’s goal of empowering local governments and curb criminality.

Lacson said his proposed Budget Reform Act, which is based on his Budget Reform Advocacy for Village Empowerment (BRAVE), seeks to ensure enough funds for local government units (LGU) to implement their development projects,

“This shares the objective of federalism – to empower local government units with sufficient funds to implement their own development projects – without having to go through the process of amending the 1987 Constitution,” said Lacson, who ran as an independent candidate in the May 9 polls.

He said the bill would also help bring down criminality by attracting people to work on development projects instead of resorting to petty crime.

In many cases, he said petty crimes stem from poverty.

“When there are many opportunities presented by development projects, we can expect less reason for people to resort to crime to make ends meet,” he said.

Appointment ni Mark Villar is flawed from the onset.

Its like telling a wolf to guard a pen full of sheep.

Villar's past is too conflicting to put him there. Kung pumalpak yan i don't think sisibakin yan. Sibak din ang political agreement.

Meaning, the DPWH is going back to their old ways.

Akala ko change is coming looks like it's another flamboyant tagline

I was for Duterte and still am but when Mark Villar was appointed DPWH secretary, I was dismayed. Alam na ang mangyayari, they will buy lands all over the country for conversion to Crown Asia's, Camellas and Portofinoses, and build roads that run through them. At the people's taxes's expense. Maybe no direct corruption but still beneficial for their real estate company.

Maybe peace and order will be better, a little bit of socialist experimentation, faster decisions on policy implementation, but still the same patronage politics.

B) A professional engineer with impressive track record should be appointed as DPWH Secretary, not a politician with known vested interests.

I don't get why he chose Mark Villar as DPWH Secretary? That guy isn't even an engineer and we all know that they have a real estate company. There could be conflict of interest in selecting projects and the bidding process as well.

Instead of expecting long and straight expressways, resign yourself to see the new expressways zigzagging in order to connect all the Camella Homes subdivisions along its path.

Tungkol sa appointment

Since naman time ni Aguinaldo lahat ng nauupong gabinete ay usally yun malakas sa presidente. Eh syempre!

But let us also be fair, he is also keeping some of PNOY's men

So I think masyado pa maaga para magbigay ng matinding batikos o sabihin na short-changed na nga tayo. Pambihira ni hindi pa nga nanunumpa eh. Anatayin muna kasi natin. Ang importante at least nagtratrabaho na sya

For any president, a single person can only do so much. Pero, if he appoints the right persons as his secretaries, director or head of whatever branch of government, they can do a lot for the country.

I hope Digong will appoint honest and competent heads of these branches and will not play favors.

Since nandyan na yan, I wish him the best for the benefit of every Pinoy.

Simply compare the economy of Manila, Cebu & Davao, sino ang bokya? I've been traveling to Davao (and other major cities) up to 12X a year for the over a decade.

Sana ituloy at ipalawak ang laban against corruption. Sana walang cronyism at nepotism.

Sana after 6 years, mas maging proud at dignified tayong mga Pinoy.

Peace and good luck to all of us!

Pero ganun pa man, sana maging masipag sya at maging result-oriented. Sana maramdaman natin na meron tayong government of the people, for the people, and by the people. Hindi yun puro lang oligarchs naghahari.

Nationalist People’s Coalition of businessman Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr. have signed an agreement joining the coalition of change with the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

The agreement was signed at the Makati Diamond Residences on 20 May 2016 by NPC president Giorgidi Aggabao and PDP-Laban presidetn Sen. Koko Pimentel. NPC supported losing presidential bet Grace Poe in the May 9 elections.

Duterte’s candidate for House Speaker, incoming Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez thanked the NPC for its support.

PDP-Laban will meet the National Unity Party of businessman Ricky Razon next.

In the last five days, PDP-Laban has signed coalition deals with the Nacionalista Party of former Senator Manny Villar, Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and the 45-member party-list bloc led by Ako Bicol.

Alvarez said that with NP, NPC, and NUP, his quest for Speaker in the 17th Congress was in the bag.

These are the only things I want to reasonably expect:

If he can pass the death penalty again- I am all for the mass extermination of the "proven" undesirables.

If he can get Congress to form a constituent assembly- I am all for greater autonomy (federalism or whatever scheme they call it) and for greater development of the provinces.

If he can regulate the vehicles using EDSA- I am all for stricter regulations in registration (Ala Singapore), phasing out older models-especially smoke belchers, and eliminating illegal street parking (it's not "double parking" but whatevs).

Yan lang. The country can be run the same way as before. The government doesn't feed, clothe or house me, and I will NEVER expect it too.

pre, taga Davao ako... doon ako lumaki and spent 97% of my life living there...

3) a mayor of Davao can only do so little regarding economic activities... eh ano lang ba kapangyarihan ng mayor? much of a place's economic progress rest mostly sa national policy... Manila is the capital city and much is given attention to it by the national government... Cebu is strategically situated at the center of the country kaya maraming mamumuhunan... Ang davao naman ay napakalayo to most parts of the country being located deep south plus the chaos brought by Moro rebellion in nearby ARMM...Its like comparing apples to orange to durian...Pero the main point pa rin eh hindi kasalanan ng mayor kung mas progressive and cebu at manila because it all points to the national policy... digong already brought davao economically speaking as far as he can given his limited power as city mayor... for davao to go to the next level, national policy na ang kailangan...

Now I understand Duterte's sudden turn-around on Gibo Teodoro as DND Secretary.

Galit si Danding kay Gibo. And Duterte is now forming alliance with Danding (you know, after Danding unsuccessfully supported Grace Poe....).

It was Gibo who REFUSED to work as DND secretary, on his personal reasons. I am not sure if Danding was the MAIN reason since hindi lang naman sa kanila naki pag alyansa ang PDP Laban.

News report:

"... MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Former defense chief Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro Jr denied reports that he has already declined president-elect Rodrigo Duterte's offer for him to again lead the Department of National Defense (DND).

Teodoro told Rappler on Sunday, May 22, that he has yet to decide.

"The importance of the position to the national interest requires no less than serious consultation especially with the President-elect before accepting such, in order to ensure that a prospective Secretary is the right choice," he said.

Duterte was himself quoted in other reports as saying that Teodoro had already declined. Rappler is trying to reach the president-elect's camp for comment and clarification.

In a video of Duterte's press conference late Saturday night, May 21, he said, "Gibo has begged off. I have in mind a military man although retired. I have to talk to him."

Yet Teodoro said, "I have not decided yet."

Because of the ongoing AFP modernization, a lot of vested interest groups are salivating for the DND post.

Gibo would have been a fine choice for the position, but political expediency dictates otherwise.

BTW, I'm not Jopoc.
