The 1986 novel, "The Bourne Supremacy", by Robert Ludlum (1927-2001), which forms the middle third of the Bourne Trilogy. Universal is dedicated to adapting all three books, with the first movie, The Bourne Identity, released in 2002 and the final one, "The Bourne Ultimatum", also in development. Made for $75 million, The Bourne Identity was a mid-size hit in the summer of 2002 ($121 million domestically), and a huge hit when it reached home video in January, 2003, setting a new five-day record (previously held by Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone).
