people, here are some websites that you may find interesting...you see, wizards of the coast made an open gaming license for other gaming producers to use their product...ergo, many of the mechanics for version 3 and 3.5 are available online! as in characters, level, monsters, magic items, rules, etc!

http://dndsrd.net/

also, have been recently playing d20 modern. its WOTC update, and answer to, Top Secret. this time, since your using roughly same rules as D&D, its easier to modify into something like ShadowRun of FASA, i.e. dragons, orcs, elves, etc. they call it d20 Aracana, an expansion to the d20 modern rules. all the main rules are also available for download....even on WOTC main website

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20modern - check the downloads section and also look for the system reference document...

am trying to look for the website i got the d20 modern weapons locker data from, will post it for those interested. i am sure there are also posts for the other books in the d20 modern series. i know that they do have d20 past (Age of Sail to WW2), d20 Apocalypse (GammaWorld in v3 rules), d20 future (StarFrontiers), and other titles are available in Neutral Grounds  :D .

hey, just saw this topic now... used to play AD&D, Rifts, D&D and a lot of other stuff...

anyone have a good torrent link for the new D&D rulebook? hehehehehe

steven_crimes, you could try the official D&D site, or search the web...even on torrent. TSR/WOTC have the 4th edition in an Open Game License, so many of the game's mechanics, monsters, etc. are open for download so people could make products for the game, or even new games based on their system.

i would suggest, however, that you use the 3.5 ed. rules. this is all over the web and open for download. its easier to use daw, compared to the new rules.
