here's my prescription for migraines (over-the-counter drugs naman ito)

1. cinnarizine 25mg tablet 3 x a day

2. naproxen 500mg tablet 3 x a day

3. betahistine mesylate (Vertilate) 12 mg tablet 3 x day

 

take it as necessary....try to think of relaxing things....avoid caffeine drinks such as coke, coffee etc.

Umiinom ako usually ng Mefenamic Acid.. pag after an hour at di tumalab.. iinom na ko ng Avamigran.

 

I take the same drugs but in a different mode.

May 3 hours leadtime ang migraine attack. Nararamdaman mong bumibigat ang ulo mo o kaya medyo nabibingi ka o lumalabo ng konti ang paningin mo. For migraine sufferers, alam na nila ang mga telltale signs ng migraine attack. During this leadtime, umiinom na ako ng avamigran. Kapag hindi napigilan at nagsimula ng pumitik, I take mefenamic acid to relieve the pain. Then tuloy ang avamigran every 6 hours.

I try to avoid taking medicine kse... I have this weird misconception na nakakabobo uminom ng gamot... :D

 

Mas malakas kse ang Avamigran.. kaya try ko muna Mefenamic kung tatalab.. kaya ganyan. Sabi kse ng mom ko, iwasan ko uminom ng Avamigran.. may caffeine yata.. o ewan.. basta yun ang bilin nya sa kin (nurse kse mom ko). B)

yes i can attest to that! one time, nagworkout ako na may migraine. after i'm done, nawala na rin sakit ng ulo ko..

 

although ang normal therapy ko is 500mg flanax

I've been having migraine since high school and almost always the only thing that relieve me from it are analgesics (wag lang yung may mefenamic acid, allergic ako dun).

 

My dosage now is 1000mg super strength tylenol, but i only take it after a day of migraine. Recently though my bro (he's a physician) told me I can get relief from drinking a cup of coffee, apparently there is a new study that caffeine can lessen or relieve you from migraine. I've tried it and it worked.

 

A warm bath and a good sleep will do wonders too.

For me, I just take Excedrin. Minsan, a cold tablet (like Neozep). However, it's a case of different strokes for different folks. Some friends who likewise suffer from migraines, swear by Ponstan, Coffee, or just running your head under a cold tap. My migraines were so bad that I actually had to see a neurologist. She put me on Sibelium for a month and recommended Avamigran when the migraine starts. It worked for me since my migraines now are few and far between. I must caution you though on self-medicating. If it's really bad, you should see a doctor.

 

What really works without need for medication is isolating the trigger factors so you can avoid them. Good luck.

Hindi ba dapat i avoid nga yung coffee.Kasi as for me,coffee was the culprit kaya nag trigger yung migraine ko. Sabi rin ng Dr. na tinanung ko also avoid the ff:Chocolates,alchoholic drinks (hindi ako pwede ng wala yan),staying up late,nuts to name a few. :ninja: :D

coffee triggers some migraine, but during migraine, coffee cures the migaine. yes it is a wonder.

 

 

SLEEP ( i dont drink coffee) or just close your eyes to avoid lights. this is what i do because my migraine is often triggered by some kind of lights.

AH Migraine. Tama different strokes for diff folks. I had nasty migraine attacks before. Really debilitating. My worst was one that wsa on and off for 3 days and i vomitted 3 times per day.

 

Suggestion...make notes on the nature of your migraine. Create a profile. You will learn whar to avoid and do the next time.

 

Consult a doctor to give you the latest med in migraine. But take these meds as a last resort. I do. But i dont like to rely on meds. I dont like to bombard my body with drugs. I avoid it till i cant take it.

 

My secret? EXERCISE EXERCISE AND EXERCISE. When i started running and playing tennis and swimming at least 1 x a week my migrain became scarce ...like once every three months.
