Sodom and Gomorrah were annihilated by God because of extreme sexual immorality.

During the early part of his political career, Mayor Lim of Manila closed down a number of sex dens whose lifeblood was fed by minors. What happened afterwards? Did other Metro Mayors try to emulate Mayor Lim to cleanse Metro Manila of street workers?

Maybe you got the credits confused? The credit for making Manila wholesome ought to be given to his Vice Mayor instead. It was the fruit of the effort of Atienza who is currently party list representative as advocate of the pro-life movement. Anyway Mabini Street was rid of filthy 24 hour bars too and removed Manila's reputation as the country's red light district.

But soon after Lim's comeback as City Mayor, nite clubs that match the old Mabini notoreirity opened up. Atienza meanwhile became a competitor for the office of Mayor, after serving as mayor for several terms and his brainchild, the baywalk was shut down because of neglect by the City Government which cited poor sanitary conditions and lack of facilities as excuses.

Today Erap converted many of the bars into karaoke type clubs masking off the lewd and often vulgar desperate street trade that run down nite clubs with aging staff got.

In a way yes. Two of my friends fell victims to robbers in Binondo area last week. And the robbers are still at large, most likely waiting for another set of victims.

Save for Japan, many older cities in the world got this problem due to deteriorating conditions.

If you don't believe in the afterlife, most likely Dan Brown is correct, Manila is the Gate of Hell.

whats the story behind Dan Brown's "gates of Hell"..tungkol ba saan ito? so no R. Langdon character?

Meron pa din Robert Langdon. It was called the 'Gates of Hell' in a figurative way. One of the characters kasi in the book was in Manila acting as a volunteer for an NGO and she saw how over populated and miserable people's live are in Manila. Who can blame him? We ourselves call the whole country worse names, why would an outsider's opinion matter?

If you are observant, then you will not fail to see smokey mountain, a towering garbage pile on the coast of Manila. An NGO funded short film on Payatas and Smokey Mountain relates the life of scavengers living off the daily tons of garbage. According to this television special aired not too long ago, much of the garbage is now "barged" out of the city and into a remote island since government officially closed down Smokey Mountain.

Anyone saw this TV special too?

Anyway, what do you think happened last year after the storm surges that swept thousands of tons of fresh garbage off the Manila Bay - bay walk area? For those who are familiar, garbage and flood water even ruined the prestigious Hotel Sofitel that hosts the best buffet in town too. Yuck! If the short film is to be our basis then perhaps this garbage was swept back inland from the offshore dump site that government implemented next to Smokey Mountain.

The City Government of Manila and MMDA labored round the clock to collect the swept garbage. Then Mayor Lim claimed on TV that the cleanup needed at least 800 10 wheeler garbage truck full (cost to City government is 400 trips and MMDA another 400). If hell is a pile of unwanted garbage, then we must agree about the reputation of Manila as the Gate.

The Gate of Hell is where a lot of calamities keep pounding the innocent people and where the most corrupt politicians are glorified instead of being punished severely and disqualified from running for public office.

The Gates of Hell is simply where your soul decides to go if you reject the concept of love and understanding.

At least according to me hahaha

Hell exists only in the minds of people who believe in it. They ultimately decide whether it's temporary or forever.

Matthew 16:13-18

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Meaning to say that in Caeserea Philippi(City southwest of Mt. Hermon) there is a hell gate, a dimensional portal leading to hell. According to the Book of Enoch, Mt. Hermon is the place where the 200 Watcher class angels congegrated when they left their heavenly abode to have an unholy matrimony with the women of the Earth.

Wala naman yata gate ang hell cause everyone is welcome to enter there. Unlike in heaven, only the good and repentant sinner can enter.. so dun talaga may gate para ma-filter ang pagpasok. :P

I believe that the gates of hell are already with us as we live with the burdens of the sins we have committed, continuously being punished as we live our day to day lives.
