wrong, mas mahigpit talaga mga cops sa nyc.

the city budget includes half a billion dollars in traffic tickets and fines. i got hit with a "cheap" $65 ticket the first time i tried to drive there (no right turns on red in new york city - almost anywhere else in america or even ny state pwede yun).

and someone mentioned gray's papaya up there. yup, puro pinoy nga ang staff dun, open late/early morning too.. good for after-clubbing munchies.

if u visit new york... and ur looking for some kick ass steak... theres two places thats really up there!

Mortons and peter luger's... certainly the best in the U.S and probably ranks amongst the top in the world! a little pricey (or should i say really pricey)... but there so worth it... mortons has a bit more ambiance... while lugers is kinda more casual....

i also tried arthur's in jersey and as my friend jimmy describes the place... "that place is bangin ya'll"...haha

steak isnt very expensive... they have the 24 oz and their 48 oz version... and there'e an incentive...they dont charge u the bill if you finish their 48 ouncer... coool dba?... but thre so huge! (took me over an hour to finish the 24 ounce steak!)

Went to NY about 5 years ago. Didn't know much of the place so I walked most of the time. Can't imagine that I was able to go from 46th Street to 10th street just by walking hehehe.

in cold climate being tired is not the issue but being exhausted after

finishing the walk... try shoveling of snow during winter time... :goatee:

Stayed in NY for two years...

and the worst time to go there for any Filipino isn't winter time (because the cold would be a novelty) but actually its summer time. Mainit na nga sa Pilipinas, mainit pa pupuntahan mo. That would suck. And the NY subway in the summertime is torture. . . uhm, a good number of them don't take a bath regularly or everyday. so you can just imagine how the stations smell.

The only good thing about summer in NYC are the bikini clad women, sun bathing in Central Park. Imagine Luneta Park filled with hot, near naked women just baking in the sun. Yummy!

A tip for bachelors going there, don't be shy or timid...be assertive in the right places and you can be rewarded.

Example, we were two Filipinos then taking a Masters degree course and we were out drinking in a nearby bar. My friend went to the Men's Room (mental note to Pinoy's, don't look for the CR, hindi nila alam yon.) and two girls, unwittingly, sat in the stool of my friend, thinking it was an open seat. I didn't notice them because I was stupidly admiring a hot MILF Latina (I learned later she was Colombian) then in another table. My friend came back and saw the two girls and jokingly demanded his stool. The girls were apologetic and was standing up. Of course, the gentlemen we were, we both stood up and just gave them our seats, if they'ld have drinks with us. They obliged and when the night was over, these girls were taking us home to their apartment.

Lesson # 1 - It helps to be able to note opportunities for striking up a conversation with any girl there.

Lesson # 2 - Be assertive but not be aggressive. There are a lot of nice people in NY but there are freaks too. If they sense you are too aggressive, women may put you in the category of freaks and won't touch you even with a ten foot pole.

Lesson # 3 - Don't worry if you crash and burn...meaning even if a woman rejects you, so what, people don't know you. You are just passing by NY. And even if you are staying there, its a Million Plus population city, nobody would even remember that happened.

Lesson # 4 - Well actually, more of a tip, pick Caucasian ladies...They have a thing for Asian Men. We look uniquely "exotic" to them.

Happy hunting.

Public Transportation Tips:

You should avoid driving a car into Manhattan. The traffic can be horrendous, on-street parking is almost non existant and parking garages charge up to $30 per day. Public transportation is very good in New York City. A subway or bus ticket costs $2.00 and is good for any destination on the system and even includes a transfer from subway to bus. You can purchase subway or bus tickets (Metro Cards) from the attendants in subway stations, from vending machines or from select merchants throughout the city.

My ex stayed in Jersey for two weeks at a discounted rate in one of the Hyatts. $38 for a room? not bad right?

$38? not bad at all! don't know the rates in Manhattan because i stayed with a relative in Long Island, but i know the rates will be much much more than that, like in Chicago where it's hard to find a decent hotel for less than $100 (siguro summer kasi when i went canvassing), unless you go to the suburbs but even so it would be very hard to find a room for less than $50.

haha nice tip... made me laugh actually...

para d ot. NEVER EVER get hussled by "independent" musicians selling cd's in time square.

they usually have cd players and headphones with em and will come up to you and ask you to listen to a couple of their songs (r&b and rap) and ask you what u think about... after that, wala ka nang ligtas... the next thing you know is that shelling out 10 bucks for a f#&king cd... crap... 10 dollars sa quiapo, tiba tiba ka na sa porn! hehe

Nice! i was actually in NYC last year and its NOT true that new yorkers are rude. they are actually quite friendly, its only that many people here are immigrants so they may not be 100% fluent in english and maybe curt in responding when you ask for directions.

anyway, went to coney island and met these brazilians (or latinas, i'm not sure) and they were in bikinis at around 6pm. i was amazed because i was freakin cold (i was wearing denim pants and had my jacket zippered up). but these girls are prancing around in tiny bikinis and taking pictures of each other. i was afraid to approached at first but gathered my courage and offered to take their pictures. they were glad and gave various "nakaka-tigas titi" poses. it was the start of a very beautiful friendship. i would have never forgiven myself if i didn't approach them... :D
