I've used 3 kinds of CIS for 3 different printers over the years. Experience ko lang, if you're not a heavy printer user, you can just stick to the replacement refillable cartridges which can be bought at any MultiColors or other brands of CIS inks. You simply inject the ink using a syringe when the ink tank runs near empty. Problem with CIS is that kapag matagal mo indi nagamit, there is a risk that the printhead (original) will be ruined because of clogging from dried ink. Nangyari ito sakin last year with a Canon ip1980 printer. Had to buy a new original print cartridge. Magkakaroon din ng backflow problem (yung ink umaatras pabalik sa CIS tanks) when left unused for some time. Hassle ibalik yung flow paloob ng printer when you do it often.

So I had to teach them how to clean the printer heads (via the software cleaner included w/ the original printer software). Other than this, satisfied naman sya sa performance ng continuous ink system.

I prefer to invest on original inks.

Just my two centavos. Depende din kasi sa expectations/demands ninyo, it's up to you if you want to invest on continuous ink systems. Of course, if you're operating an Internet cafe and your clientele are mostly students, investing on one is a smart (and dirt cheap) move ;)

a word of advice about the continuous ink flow system

okay siya gamitin sa mga printers na lumabas the previous year. pero yung mga bagong models ngayon madaling masira kung gagamitin heavily. i still recommend the ip series ng canon.

hp printers may have problems operating the CIS systems pero may work around na pwedeng gawin ang mga tech sa mga HP printers.

epson is good for heavy users. pero huwag yung mga bagong models... throw-away kasi yung construction at materials niya.

I have a friend who has this the only problem is that if it isn't used for a while, the ink in the lines dry up and clog it. I guess regular use and maintenance is all that's needed to ensure proper printing.
