During my college days, nawala asthma ko when I became active in sports. Bumalik dahil panay ang sunog ng kilay sa mga projects at thesis. Nowadays, I keep an inhaler within reach -- pump na agad kapag naramdaman ko ng magsisimula nang umarya yung asthma.

I know a number of asthmatics na nawala yung asthma nila nung madalas silang mag-swimming.

Unfortunately, there is no one cure.

Swimming though helps to exercise the lungs and helps you control your breathing. If you don't live near the ocean, try going for an early morning swim in your subdivision's swimming pool. It helps. I know, I used to do this every weekend. :)

Know what you're allergic to and try to avoid it as much as possible. I am not allergic to it, but the drastic changes in weather triggers my asthma. Sad to say, it can't be avoided. I can't tell mother nature to stop changing. Keep an inhaler within reach, just in case you need it.

Lastly, follow your doctor's orders. If your MD says that you should use an inhaler for maintenance, then do so. This will help to prevent serious attacks should you be exposed to any of your allergens.
