Maria Lourdes Sereno

Apart from being the 24th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, what else is new from this lady magistrate? I hate to state any 'negativity' (or whatever you may call it) that's been going on with her lately as far as credibility is concerned.

I'll leave it up to you, guys.

She's only 52 years old.

Supreme Court Justices retire at the age of 70.

She has the potential to serve another 18 years and become the longest serving CJ.

She would fight tooth and nail for that chance in history.

If she does not get impeached. According to the impeachment complaint filed by Gadon, one of the grounds for her impeachment is not filing SALNs for a couple of years aside from not declaring her correct income. I think there is slam dunk evidence to impeach her.

Just got some insider info from those that actually make recommendations within the justice system. She is incredibly competent and if there's anything wrong with her SALN, it's not filing every 7/11 receipt for buying a bottle of water. It's a witch hunt. If you listen to the hearings, politicians are making every attempt at discrediting her to please certain parties. It's a farce. And we all know Gadon is not filing out of the goodness of his heart.

Based on how she behaved during Grace Poe's presidential legitimacy hearings last election, I'm inclined to believe that psychological report regarding her fitness for the post and she's only there as Noynoy Aquino's lackey.

(1) If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. ~ Alexander Hamilton (2) Those who stand for nothing fall for anything ~ Peter Marshall

Chief Justice Sereno stands for the rule of law, and is willing to fight for it; for that she has my respect. 'Nuff said!

That's contradicting considering she hasn't filed a SALN for years as mandated by law according to a news report.

Are you making a joke?

Nope. Do you have access to the more professional folks at the SC, JBC and IBP?

That may be so. But doesn't every politician? They're doing everything in (and out of) the book to remove Sereno. Pot. Kettle. Black.

I don't have access to the more professional folks at the SC, JBC and IBP. It does not take one to have access to the institutions you mentioned to know that there is truth to the complaints filed against her. No less than 10 associate justices testified against her.

Let's just say that the people that are on her "side" are the career professionals of the Supreme Court. The distrust her because she's an outsider. She was appointed because sometimes you just need to shake up the system.

Sometimes you need to bring in people who are not part of the system to shake things up a bit. Unfortunately, there's not enough continuity in the SC for new programs to take root.

Do you know that the SC can be bought? There's a firm that's notoriously good at delivering SC judges for favourable decisions. Perhaps she was rattling their source of extra income. I would fight tooth and nail too if someone threatened my livelihood.

You are entitled to it, but i have seen contrary things from what you are saying. Mean to say what you say here is not entirely true.

Sereno's an eyesore to the rest of the Supreme Court justices because:

1. She doesn't have trial experience, she's mostly a legal researcher and a teacher

2. At age 52, her tenure ends at 2030. This practically dashed the hopes of the senior members, like the ambitious Antonio Carpio of ever becoming Chief Justice in their career

3. Somewhat giving credence to the psyche report, Sereno has been making self-decisions on matters which requires en banc decisions. This has caused her to lock horns with Justice Teresita de Castro.

We all know why Noynoy Aquino mustered all the resources of the government to remove Renato Corona and replace him with Lourdes Sereno: the protection of Hacienda Luisita for the Cojuangco clan.

Same opinion here.

Sereno's purpose for the Aquinos/Cojuancos is to have somebody to protect the clan's interests if their cases reach the Supreme Court.
