Probably the reason Xbox Live got so poppin, and the reason gaming journalists invented the term "COD killer". The campaign was exciting and it was fun and was worth multiple playthroughs. It has exciting moment to moment combat because it has respawn game modes, making it more exciting as long as your team isn't getting dunked on. This eliminated the downtime of non getting to play when you got killed. Plus the unlock and prestige systems created an RPG meta outside of the gunplay. Quote Link to comment
