Yellow media na naman? I really hope people will have the good sense of realizing that the Yellow-tagging is ridiculous and absurd. Every news agency, every broadcasting unit, local and international, that run stories that are deemed counter to the narrative as presented by Duterte or Marcos are labeled Yellow and dismissed instead of probed for their accuracy.

It is a lazy comeback which works only for the most rabid pro-Duterte and pro-Marcos fanboys. Sa Mocha Uson Blog patok na patok yan, pero for this thread which purports to be participated in by the more cerebral members of this Forum, I don't think so.

As it stands, the truth is, VP Leni's position is the same as the NEDA's and in league with the opinion of Duterte's top economic managers. Care to criticize the position of Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez or top economist Ernesto Pernia? Yup, I didn't think so.

The yellow media tag refers to the biases of particular news organizations (e.g. ABS-CBN, PDI, etc.).

Because we derived (or copied) our system of journalism from the US, some readers and journalists operate under the assumption that the media is unbiased, when the reality of journalism is that a completely factual story can be heavily biased, simply through the presentation of facts (who is featured, the number of times certain facts are emphasized, etc.).

A better system is the English model, where the newspapers openly trumpet their biases; this allows readers to read reports with an awareness of where that particular news org is coming from.

Some people can choose to put on blinders, but one thing I like about the awareness of the yellow media (as well as pro-Duterte media orgs) is that it shows Filipino readers are (hopefully) becoming more discerning about what they read.

As for the mining issue, I'm not surprised that Leni is pro-mining, given the actions of the LP on that issue. At least there is the possibility of debate in this Cabinet: I sincerely hope Gina Lopez and other pro-environment supporters gain the upper hand over the mining bloc.

Here's the complete picture:

Robredo, economic managers tell DAR: Land conversion ban to k*ll agriculture

“Simply put, this will result in delayed improvement in the living conditions of millions of Filipinos with the increase in cost of land for housing due to the unnecessary locking up of land resources. In short, the ban will be antipoor,” it added.

...the implementation of a land use conversion moratorium “can be antithetical to economic growth, job generation and poverty reduction,” they said.

Forget the communists and the yellow media.

The article you posted is a desperate justification by vested interests for converting agricultural land to commercial use.

Look at Japan, it is unthinkable for them to convert their farms to industrial and commercial use. That's why they are self sufficient in traditional Japanese agricultural produce, particularly Japanese rice.

In the Philippines, we need to stop the conversion. We should adopt modern technology to increase the productivity of the remaining farms and entice more Filipinos to invest in agricultural production.

Creation of sustainable jobs is higher for every peso invested in farms than in commercial ventures. Thailand realized this principle generations ago and now they have overtaken us in solving unemployment and poverty. They can thank their late King Bumibol for their pro-agriculture policies.

The BBM camp has 20,000 pages of damning evidence against Robredo. Robredo was wary regarding the recount. If she really won fairly, she wouldn't be wary of a recount.

If they have 20,000 pages of damning evidence, they they should definitely file a case for a recount.

That's right!

We will begin trusting you if you disengage from oligarch-dominated Liberal Party.

Start your own political party or join a nationalistic pro-Filipino party -- not pro-poor, not pro-business. We trust neither of them.

Once you become "your own man", people's trust and support will follow.

Double standard? :D
