^^^ Can't open the link dude.. Authentic Autographed card ba ito ni Jordan? What exactly is this card?

Well, I have several cards of Michael Jordan.. Hindi lang inserts.. I have a 3 Memorabilia cards (shorts, suit, and a jersey card).. I have 1 authentic autographed card which has a piece of his Chicago Bulls Jersey and is graded 9-Mint, while the signature is graded 10-Pristine.. Beckett lists my autographed card at $500 and that is the ungraded version.. (This is actually the MJ card out of the 04-05 SP Game Used Legendary Fabrics Autographs Set - all are numbered to 100 only)..

you should be able to see them. its a card of Jordan posing as another player while he is in his first retirement. He played as #4 Jhonny Kilroy for the Bulls and scored 79 points in one quarter.

the cards that you own, i stopped collecting before they came out. but i have rare air, out takes, and decade of Dominance cards of MJ. they are about 150+ pcs

^ Insert cards (e.g., foils, gold, die-cut) of Jordan do not really command top dollar nowadays.. Except for the rare numbered ones and the Hot Numbers insert from Flair.. But mas madaling makakuha ng autographed card niya nowadays dahil medyo madami (look at e-bay) at merong nagbubukas dito sa Pilipinas ng sobrang daming cards.. If you want a piece of his autograph magandang bumalik ngayon..

However his autograph do sell for top dollar kahit madami.. Ranging from 500USD to as high as 16KUSD or even more ang mga auto niya.. Usually ang multiplier dito sa atin for a Jordan is 40.. Be ready to shell out big bucks if you want his auto.. But I am telling you its worth it.. Your collection would not be as awesome without MJ's signature.. Jersey cards and Patch cards still command top prices but malayo compared to His Airness' autographed cards..

I do not have your card stated above.. and I honestly do not know its price.. Can't seem to find it sa Beckett.. (Baka sa Annual).. But it seems like its an odd-ball card na rare.. Nice addition for an MJ collector.. I guess it might command top dollar in e-bay..

I still do have some inserts of MJ as I have said.. Meron actually akong isang binder (9-pocket) na puros inserts ni Jordan.. (Electrifying, Premium Player, Ultra Gold Medallion, New Heights, UD Commemorative Collctn, to name a few) around 100++ din yata ang Jordans ko.. Now that I have one of his autographed card, I am now dreaming of owning a good condition Rookie card from Fleer (nasa 25K yan dito) or his XRC from Star.. Ooops I also forgot to mention that I have an MJ Final Floor card --- when he took that last shot in Utah --- the card features a piece of the parquet floor of the Delta Center when he took that shot vs. Russel.. Dati 800USD ito.. ngayon nasa 80USD na lang.. kasi dumagsa ito sa secondary market and its rarity suffered big time..

More of a Tim Duncan collector ako.. kaya hindi din ganun kadami Jordans ko.. Plus the fact that collecting Jordan would really put me in debt.. :P I also collect autographs and rookie cards.. ito ang bulk ng collection ko..

This is the "suit" card of Jordan that I have.. Got this card for Php1,300.00.. Its Beckett Value is at $60.00.. --- Usually sells at 1,800.00 here.. This was from the 2000-2001 Upper Deck series that was seeded 1 per case.. This is his cheapest memorabilia card (so far).. I bought the card coz its kinda rare considering that Upper Deck did not feature a swatch from MJ's suit anymore in any of their releases after 00-01..

Here's the front of the card..

I am an NBA Card Collector pare.. And one of my collections are rookie cards (or RCs in our lingo) of almost each current player in the league.. Coz I have been collecting RCs since Grant Hill's heyday.. And I backpedalled to get some older rookie cards like that of Zo, Shaq, Mutombo, Payton, Terell Brandon, Larry Johnson.. I started my RC collection since 1994.. so humility aside.. I have lots of RCs of impact players such as GHill, Kidd, Damon, Sheed, Stackhouse, Garnett, Nash, Kobe, Iverson, Duncan, Vince Carter, Dirk, Bibby, Kenyon Martin, Tony Parker, Pau Gasol, Yao Ming, Manu Ginobili, Amare, Lebron, Boris Diaw, Carmelo, DWade, Ben Gordon, Dwight Howard, Luol Deng, Chris Paul, Danny Granger, Raymond Felton.. As of now my most expensive RC is that of Vince Carter.. I have his Platinum Medallion Ultra RC and is listed at USD250.00.. Followed by Kobe's Topps Chrome which is listed at $225.00.. With Lebron James, I have his Ultra Gold Medallion RC and and is listed at $85.. But sad to say ito na ang pinakamahal ko kay LBJ coz I was not able to buy his RCs kasi sobrang taas na when they came out..

.. and also the lesser known players such as Erick Dampier, Scott Pollard, Drew Gooden, Podkolzin, or even Fran Vazquez.. Halos lahat talaga dre since Grant Hill's rookie season meron ako.. Name it I may have it.. But meron din naman akong wala.. The RCs that I need of current players are Dorrel Wright, Gilbert Arenas, and that of Gerald Wallace.. Ewan ko ba hindi ako nakakuha ng mga RCs nila.. Must've slipped my mind when they came out.. Hanggang ngayon wala akong mahanap..

Usually I have more than 1 RC of each player..

The oldest that I have are the rookie cards of Kevin Johnson, Horace Grant, AC Green, Reggie Miller, David Robinson.. etc.. Medyo inuunti-unti ko ang mga ito.. But I guess hindi ko makokomplete coz of the sheer expenses that I will incur.. Well, maybe in time..

My dream is to have the Michael Jordan RC from Fleer.. It is now listed at USD750.00.. And some of the impact oldies like West, Kareem, Oscar Robertson, Wilt.. etc. Kaso makakakuha ka lang ng mga ito if you shell a lot of money and buy them at e-bay..

The bulk of my collection is Tim Duncan.. I have the compete Rookie Cards - base rookies only - of Duncan (my most expensive is his Topps Chrome Rookie Refractor at $100).. 60++ memorabilia and 6 different autographed cards .. My target is to get 21 (his jersey number) autographs and 121 memorabilia cards.. Also autographed cards especially that of the legends (ie. Magic, Bird, Dr.J.. etc.).. Kapag sinabi ko autographed, I am talking about authenticated autographed cards that come out of packs.. hindi yung in-person signings na walang authentication, can be had for pennies and do not have the investment "concept" of authenticated ones..

Nga pala.. Hindi for sale ang mga ito.. :mtc:

For those who are interested in starting or going back in collecting cards.. Its always good to invest in players whose cards are not that expensive and have a chance to go up in the price guide.. Because this is a NBA rookie card thread.. Lemme share my thoughts on rookie card collecting..

Luck is also part of the deal when one collects rookie cards of a certain player.. I do have some favorites in certain rookie crops and I also have my winnings and my losings.. I heavily bought a lot of Dajuan Wagner before.. Nasan na nga ba si Dajuan Wagner ngayon? Injured.. always injured so his cards did not perform well in the secondary market and has since gone down the drain.. But I was lucky to have bought several cards of Manu Ginobili.. Ginobili was not "HOT" when he came in the League but because I was a fan of the Spurs.. I bought his cards.. One autographed card I bought for Php800.00 can now be sold at Php5K.. And I doubt kung bababa pa ito.. Wagner compared to Ginobili was HOT as he was considered as one of the best High School players in the nation (US) before he entered college..

One should watch basketball.. And keep you eyes glued on certain rookies.. For this year Gerald Green's RCs have considerably gone up the ricter scale.. So maswerte ang mga bumili ng mga cards niya at a cheap price.. I do have some of his RC's.. but that is a gamble.. Why? Coz Boston did not reach the playoffs this year & Green has not really proved his "hype" in a lot of games.. Although merong mga games na talaga namang BAM BAM WOWOWEE!!! So let us see next year.. I do like the upside on Danny Granger and Raymond Felton this year.. I think collectors also saw that the players mentioned would be good investments dahil tumataas ang value nila sa e-bay.. Medyo mababa pa ang prices nila sa price guide and might be good investments.. But are they still gambles? I would have to say yes..

Rookies are good investments only if PUMUTOK sila in the coming seasons.. Kung hindi.. Wala tulog ang cards mo.. But they are nice collections.. I collect all players para kapag pumutok meron ako kahit ilan.. di ba? Like si Boris Diaw - tatatlo lang ang RC ko nito but at least I have some of em.. Unlike sa iba.. wala talaga.. Sino bang may akalain na puputok si Diaw sa Phoenix di ba?

Player investments are also gambles.. Penny Hardaway's cards were selling like hotcakes before.. But right now, kung Penny ang collection mo.. Di na yan papansinin in the hobby circles.. Kumbaga you would not be able to sell them in premiums as compared to what you have invested before.. Kung nag-champion si Penny at siya ang center of attention nakupo and mahal ng cards mo.. Ganun eh.. Penny was one of the best players at this heyday.. was even compared to Magic Johnson.. had tons of commercials.. endorsements.. But whoever thought that injury would make his play look like the plays of Shawn Bradley at times.. So.. there, sugal.. di ba?

So in collecting players.. rookie cards.. dapat din dinadasalan mo ang mga investments mo sa sports cards.. :P Yun ang secret ko.. hehehe! Kidding aside, there is no real clear cut style in sports cards collecting or rookie cards collecting.. You just have to have your own gut feel.. and start from there.. :mtc:

anywayz, going back to collecting is still a long shot for me. it has become too expensive for me already. my collection is already collecting dust in my room as we speak. siguro pag mayaman na ako hehehe

^^ Derrick, Dun ka pala ng-start.. rookie season nina Steve Francis and Elton Brand..

Just wanna share some thoughts again..

Not all rookie classes would be able to bring about players that would receive much "hobby" love.. That collectors would really collect.. Examples are the rookie classes of Steve Francis/Elton Brand.. Kenyon Martin/Mike Miller/Darius Miles.. Pau Gasol/Tony Parker..

But the worst is that of KMart's rookie season.. Look at players who were thought to have lots of upside like Courtney Alexander, Marcus Fizer, Mateen Cleaves, Khalid El-Amin.. They never really took off and just fell off obscurity in the card hobby world.. to top it all some even just went out of the NBA without anyone noticing.. Darius Miles and KMart were considered to be the top rookies in terms of collectability but after a few years Miles never really showed the "hype" of being the next Kevin Garnett.. while KMart's cards kinda went up when he had that 2 straight finals appearances.. But because the Nets fell short his cards stabilized and started to fizzle when he had the attitude and injuries in Denver.. That was a real rookie season bust to say the least in a collector's perspective..

As I have said, swertihan yan.. Look at Jay Williams.. The Bulls drafted him right after Houston drafted Yao Ming.. Had lots of hobby potential but because of that accident that almost killed him and left him with a lifetime injury.. His rookie cards also fell.. Who would've thought that a vehicular accident would happen to him and render his rookie cards injured as well.. I even have a Jay Williams autographed RC auto.. Well, I am just holding on to it for nostalgia purposes..

This is the reason why collecting rookie cards is a gamble.. One would never know what would happen to the player after his rookie season.. He could have lots of hype, potential and upside.. The hobby world would notice and collect him but after his rookie season, no one would really know if his hype would still translate to hobby love.. Injuries, bad attitude, bad karma (of not winning awards, or championships) would make or break the player in the hobby.. Case in point, even with Lebron James' hype.. if he stil did not bring the Cavs to the playoffs this year.. his cards might taper down a bit.. But because his hype when he entered was really huge (grabe talaga.. more than DRob's, Michael Jordan's, or even Shaq's when they entered the league), Lebron James' woeful two years was forgivable and hobbyists were willing to wait and see what can James really give.. Well, his power dunks and nice passes did help but winning is also important.. If he had lost and lost.. collectors would somehow lose interest and his cards would taper down.. LBJ's cards went down a bit before (when he did not succesfully lead the Cavs to the playoffs - in two years - and most of the time clunked his FTs) but went up a little bit again and stabilized after the playoff experience.. Look at DWade's cards.. yun ang tumaas talaga.. Hindi pa din kasing taas ni Lebron but if Wade would continue to win and win.. I would not be surprised if he becomes the next Jordan in the hobby and LBJ would just become a Barkley or a Dominique Wilkins in the hobby.. Why? Winning is more important than hype in basketball and in the hobby :)

I used to collect cards in the mid-90's myself, and that Johnny Kilroy card was a great mystery at first because he was too good to be true, and yet so mysterious... hence the unbelieavable price tag

and he was too good to be true; the card was a not too well-hidden attempt to bank on his name during the retirement period, and checking it on google, it looks like it was a Nike commercial campaign of some sort as well

its possible for a Michael Jordan. MJ it TOO loved by the NBA and its officials that they will agree on this scenario as long as they see MJ play again

You are correct..

This is 2001-02 Upper Deck Ovation MJ UNC Memorabilia.. As of date, current issue of Beckett, the card is still valued at $40.00.. This is a common floor card inserted into packs in UD Ovation.. This a card in a five piece set.. There are also variants of this card.. floor/jersey and authographed versions as well.. Ito ang mahal.. $500 ang floor/jersey and unpriced ang mga autographed.. Medyo madami nito before here.. Was not too interested.. coz I have a Final Floor card worth $80 already..

Still, ngayon mahirap maghanap ng ganitong card sa secondary market sa Pilipinas.. it can be bought at around Php1K to 1,200.00 here.. Sayang nga eh.. coz its still a different card from mine.. North Carolina floor ito eh.. Yung akin.. Delta Center naman.. sayang!!! :)

Bibid-an mo ba ito? Ingat lang pare coz the seller only has 4 feedbacks.. There are a lot of bogus transactions in e-bay.. As a lot of paid transactions remain unconsummated coz the item does not reach the buyer.. :mtc:

Was able to score a very nice rookie card of Jameer Nelson (Orlando's up and coming PG of the future).. It is an SPX Autographed RC with a piece of a game worn jersey of the said player and is priced at $30 (sa Beckett).. It was sold for just Php400.. Jameer Nelson's upside is huge.. He has been the starting PG for the Magic since last season and will likely be their true PG of the future.. Talk about good timing!!! :)

As I have said in my earlier posts in this thread.. I am a huge Tim Duncan collector.. I have the complete set of his base rookie cards.. Well, one would ask: how about the RC variants? Well, I was not lucky enough to get them.. well, sobrang mahal din naman kasi.. $300-$400.. But I have the Topps Chrome RC Refractor.. and I want to share it in this thread..

Got this card only this year for Php3,500.00 from e-bay.. its Beckett value is at $100.00.. In my wish lists are his Topps Finest Refractor RC and his Bowman's Atomic Refractor RC..

Here is the pic of the Chrome Refrac RC of TD:

Spree? I only have one rookie card of your collection, worship.. Topps RC #392.. As I have said in earlier posts, I collect RCs.. tama ng isang RC sa mga lumang players.. If you are looking for RCs of Spree.. you could try going to Peter's Collectibles sa Shoppesville Greenhills.. The shop specializes in old cards.. Mura lang.. you could get them at 30-50 pesos ea.

Regarding the MJ rookie card.. How much is your cuz selling it? And is the condition good?
