floppydrive Posted April 30, 2008 Share Posted April 30, 2008 One thing you'll need in CA - a GPS unit! It will save you a lot of headaches in going to the places you'd like! We were in LA two weeks ago, and the GPS unit saved us a lot of aggravation. The car we rented had a Garmin GPS in it. Re: Disneyland, confirm thru internet when they'll have fireworks. We went there on a weekday to avoid the crowds, but we also missed the fireworks - they only had it on weekends. Also, try to go to the Amusement areas as early as possible, since they close early if it's not tourist season yet. Universal Studios closed at 6pm. We were informed that Legoland closed earlier - 4pm daw. That's for April. Not sure what their times of operations will be for May. If you're planning to go to Big Bear, confirm first thru the internet if they're open. We were planning to drive up there to let the kids see some snow, but we were informed that they closed the area starting April 15. Hope this helps. Quote Link to comment

IMOE, it told me to turn left in no left turn corners twice, told me to exit the freeway only to drive on straight to the freeway onramp thrice, and ordered me countless times to go around the busy city streets when passing through one freeway instead would have sufficed. The thing that works best for me is to plot your route the night before using google maps so that you can customize the route you will take. If however you find yourself in unfamiliar territory, then the Sat Nav device is saviour. By the way, I used a Magellan. Quote Link to comment

Vegasboy32 Posted March 25, 2009 Share Posted March 25, 2009 If you're in LA & want to see some snow, just drive over to Snow Summit in Big Bear. There's still plenty of snow there right now. For a shorter drive, try Mt. Waterman about an hour from downtown you might still catch some snow on the roads. I used to live in LA if you want to see snow you need to go to Big Bear. But when I moved to Las Vegas two years ago. You didn't have to go to a place like big bear or mount charleston. Last December, we experienced snow here in Las Vegas. kanski Posted April 11, 2009 Author Share Posted April 11, 2009 hey there guys. it will be my first time to visit LA CA, and this will be a transfer flight from Korea to LA. any tips on the know hows of transferring? its really embarrassing to be an ignoramus. do you mean that you will be coming from the phils and your stop over will be in korea? there are instances when the plane just stops, doesn't let it's passengers down and just let new passengers from the stop over destination board and join your flight. in this case, there is nothing to worry as there is nothing needed for you to do but stay in your seat. however, most of the time, they will let you disembark the plane and transfer to another plane at a latter time. in which case, you should take note of the boarding gate and time of your new plane/flight and proceed there in the alloted time. often, the time in between flights will afford you to walk around the airport, to shop or eat. just be sure to be at the boarding gate at the required time. btw, there will be no need to get your luggage and check it in again. nor will there be a need to go through immigration again. you however may have to go through security measures again as you go from one area of the airport to another. Largest filipino community outside the Philippines. Nan dyan lahat na gusto mo. All kinds of filipino food. Pati mass, in tagalog and music in tagalog as well. It's a nice place but it's not really THAT nice especially in the point of view of people siguro na nakatira na talaga overseas! hmmm...some places in california talaga aren't at all that nice, i'll give you that. i live here but when i first came din, i was like, uh, that's it? however, up in the north, there are some really nice areas there. san francisco for one is just lovely. santa barbara too. but i suppose if you compare it to other states, like the ones in the east, yeah di talaga super ganda. part of the reason why those areas are very pretty is because they actually do have 4 seasons there. sa california, socal in particular, it doesn't really and even fall- di masyadong colorful. hindi masyadong breathtaking kasi. saka ang california kasi is so big and when you travel by car or bus, madalas you're surrounded by deserts, mountains. para kang in the middle of nowhere.
