Bonito!

Ikaw pala expert sa watches dito! I've gone your route too...there's something about old watches and making them beautiful again. I have an antique Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air King, had it cleaned by the Rolex specialists, wala naman silang sinabi so I guess it's an original. It has a scratch on its glass face and some marks on the case probably because of sweating. Do you think I should go the full route and restore these too? It's running great, I just have to find an original buckle for it's leather strap.

My other watch is a TAG 2000series, the more practical ones are CASIOs and Timex! :P

@han: Patience is a virtue ;)

@guysmileyz: I'm no expert, just an average timepiece enthusiast. :)

Full route? If you have the money to burn, why not? I assume your watch is stainless steel and covered by a plastic lens. Why not have the case buffed and for the lens, you can use metal polish to remove the light scratches. If it's a deep scratch, you may have to use sandpaper(for metal) to smoothen it out, then apply metal polish. If you want professional cleaning done, try Manila Watch Exchange in Hyatt, Galleria or Greenhills. They would recommend replacement of the lens.

As for the leather buckle, try Ebay. ;)

@Ice: That's more than enough. ;)

I just wonder why the Philippines is such a Rolex country. :lol:

i really have no idea, dude.. guess times aren't as hard people would like to believe.. or they're just able to capitalize on certain opportunities better than anyone else. but that's just my opinion. :lol:

i've been on the lookout for a Yachtmaster, white gold variant, men's size.. care to point me in the right direction? these things are terribly hard to find.

Ice, Go to Washington in AliMall. Check if they have one. Tell the ladies I referred them to you. Or just bring cah to the Casinos and ask the financiers if they have watches to sell. ;)

It's just that in the Philippines, Rolex is the end all, be all of watches. But there are other watch houses(brands) to look at and, personally, they look and feel better than Rolex. It's the Rolex Mystique! :lol:

hehehe. My Finest Kobe RC? No way, despite the pending criminal case against him. :lol:

cars? try VW's or 123 benz cars. Cheap (by today's standards) and cheaper but more durable parts.

I just have 1, rolex oyster perpetual, stainless steel. I had mine cleaned at the rolex center 6 years ago. It's the one across greenbelt.

I had it repaired also about a year ago and they didn't charge anything! Lifetime warranty. It's a good thing I found the teeny weeny spring that suddenly leapt out of that little dial at the side. Otherwise I would have to spend about 3K just for that almost microscopic thing.

I also had a Tag 1500, a gift from my ex. Now that was a tough boogie board watch. That Tag shared wipeouts with me. But that was the only good thing about it, otherwise laging malas ako when I wear it. (She jinxed it! :lol:)

Finally I traded it with my friend for a 1940s Elgin gold pocket watch with Chinese inscriptions at the back:

" To my loving nephew from your loving Uncle. Dec.25, 1950. Philippine Islands"

Lovely!
