Rolex Watches

I bought my Rolex Two Tone Oyster Perpetual Date Just way back in 2001 for P201,000. I decided to buy the watch because our chairman, a chinese tycoon told us "wear an expensive watch and you will not be looked down wherever you go".

And true enough, since that time, I never felt inferior even in the midst of known and influencial people. And I can really feel the difference in treatment from people I meet when i'm wearing my Rolex watch and when i'm not wearing it.

My mother gave me my Rolex Watch, an Oyster Perpetual DateJust.. Silver.. Single-Color.. (I am not too fond of Gold and Two-Tone Colors kasi) in 2003 for P168K.. I have used the watch since.. for casual and formal events.. It has been my everyday watch.. I dunno but I do feel that I won't be looked down upon when I am wearing it.. Much like Lacoste shirts na that dignifies the wearer.. a Rolex watch (original ha?) does help in one's self-confidence.. This is through experience..

I also have a Tag watch but I rarely use it nowadays..

I am not fond of wearing jewelries.. and for me.. gold just makes you look like you came from Saudi Arabia and makes you look old.. big diamonds.. too much silver makes you look old too.. But wearing a watch does not.. A watch, on the other hand, I think, is an essential part of a man's wardrobe.. And a Rolex watch is a good investment.. Just keep the box, the receipts, and the certificate in good storage coz if ever you would want to sell it.. complete accessories is a must for a higher re-sale value for a Rolex watch..

i wear a seiko but i don't feel am being look down upon by other people when they see my cheap watch...being dignified is a product of one's personality and the manner by which he carries that personality no matter what he wears or what accessories he has on...

i know bill gates wears a timex ironman (might even be pinoy-made) and lucio tan sports a seiko and these are very, very rich and influential people who need not flaunt nor herald their positions in life...

on the contrary, i know of a person of high postion who sports a rolex that is looked down upon more because of the way he seems to flaunt his esteemed status and the way he shows his derision over ordinary people...but the fact is he is looked down upon because he just happens to be a person in government who sports expensive jewelry and rides in expensive cars and yet receives a pittance in salary...so how come?

i don't have any beef on rolexes...they are good, dependable and enduring watches with superb swiss movements...they stand the test of time...and they're precious assets that can pass from generation to generation...you have one you take care of it just as any other watch that you consider as precious...

I own a two tone submariner for few year and i think the price have gone up and is a good investment , I seldomly use it since is uncomfortable specially in mall it make me feel like out of place , i only wear it if the place i'm going is suitable for such a watch , usually i use a Oris is very good in every day use and I preffer the automatic without battery .

hmmm....rolex watches, are they worth it....oo naman. being looked down by other people....as koopahl said, it's how you carry yourself with or without the rolex.

bragging aside, i do have a couple, from the stainless steels to the solid gold one's with diamonds (am lucky, my dad loves watches so i just ask it from him)....my logic is to just wear it, wear it everyday....when you get old pass it on to your kids....when it bogs down have it repaired and wear it again or keep it.

rolex's are nice, no doubt. yun lang nga, dami na din meron....plus you have the fake one's pa.

Yes, sometimes it boils down to who is wearing the rolex. And you can definitely spot a fake based on who's wearing it. I don't know but there are tell tale signs if the watch is a fake based on who's wearing it. Although there are exceptions but those wearing fakes tend to reveal themselves in the company of those wearing originals.

when i graduated from high school my dad gave me a rolex oyster date yung kailangan pang i wind everyday it's my first encounter with rolex and instantly i fell in love with it... after graduating form college i kept my oyster date and i finally bought my own which is my explorer II here ok na ok sakin swak kaming dalawa and i wear it everyday as in walang hubaran talaga.. kaso due to hassles of going to work early hirap na, i prefer not to wear them and i only wear them for parties or pag may dogshows kami para naman di sila masira..

Just bought my Explorer II last week at S$7,300 (240k) based on advised of my fellow Pinoy expats in Myanmar who happens to collect expensive watches. I would say it is worth buying it coz the value never goes down tapos nagamit mo pa. Owners would know when you are wearing fake of not, and surely will put you on next level of confidence even just wearing simple dress. Maski naka-suit pa kaharap mo. :)

I have nothing against Rolex, and I absolutely no issues with people who wear Rolexes (except for those who obviously stole other people's money or are in supposedly public service who flaunt their unexplained wealth) but for me there are a lot of other choices out there that I like better: iwc portuguese, glashutte original, a. lange & sohne, patek, ulysess nardin, dornbleuth & sohn....

pero kung bigyan ako ng daytona or airking matutuwa rin naman ako. :)

wearing a rolex(or any other expensive watch) definitely signifies wealth (not necessarily power though), but wearing it doesnt and shouldnt make you feel inferior to anyone. You may be able to afford a rolex, but there's always a more expensive model, a more expensive watch...a more expensive object for that matter. the truly rich and powerful do not need to show others how rich/powerful they are. in other words, buy a rolex because you believe in the quality of the brand. not because you need it to tell yourself and the people around you how rich you are

di ko alam tawag dun kasi never ako nahilig sa relo

iba pag nakarolex k take note iba ang dating

I have a GMT Master II.

Normal reaction when you don't have one. Ganito din ako nuon eh

But you will only feel the difference once you owned one. Lalo na galing sa sarili mong pera.

It a prize for your hard earned success.

Pero I don't agree dun sa mga taong who owned one but naging masama ang ugali afterwards. Di mo naman kasi kailangang ipagyabang eh. ;)
