Anybody heard of the Pastafarians? This driver's license photo was legally approved on religious grounds. Hats are prohibited in driver's license photos in Massachusetts -- except when the head covering is worn for religious reasons.

According to the church’s website, while there are those who perceive the religion to be satirical in nature, it “doesn’t change the fact that by any standard one can come up with” the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is “as legitimate as any other” religion.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster movement, also known as 'Pastafarianism,' started in 2005 as a protest against teaching intelligent design as an alternative to evolution in Kansas schools.

How do they relate to the topic of Agnosticism and Atheism?

These people don't actually believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster. They made up a satirical religion and ended up being recognized by the legal system. Why? Because you can't prove or disprove someone's belief in religion. Religion does not have to be based on evidence. The claim of belief is enough for it to become "religious belief".

Honestly, I can't seem to understand whether this Flying Spaghetti Monster is indeed an entity or maybe the name itself says something about any monstrous activities. However, they have this so-called "The Loose Canon" thing which likely signifies as their holy book.

Here are some excerpts from "The Loose Canon":

I am the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Thou shalt have no other monsters before Me. (Afterwards is OK; just use protection.) The only Monster who deserves capitalization is Me! Other monsters are false monsters, undeserving of capitalization.

— Suggestions 1:1

"Since you have done a half-ass job, you will receive half an ass!" The Great Pirate Solomon grabbed his ceremonial scimitar and struck his remaining donkey, cleaving it in two.

— Slackers 1:51–52

^ The Scientific American finds it really funny. The "Prophet" is an unemployed physics major who is mocking his local government (Kansas) for proposing Intelligent Design as an alternative to Evolution.  Basically he's using the concept of Bertrand Russel's cosmic teapot.  There's another parody called the Invisible Pink Unicorn but the Flying Spaghetti Monster has more "followers".  I understand these parodies may not sit well with our theist visitors, but this is the agnostic/atheist thread after all.  As an agnostic I think a lighter outlook on unfalsifiable claims is not a bad way to go.

Even the BBC acknowledges His Noodly Goodness.  This video of The Big Bang as narrated by Gillian Anderson (of The X-Files) shows The Flying Spaghetti Monster make an appearance around the 1:20 mark when the video is showing what happened before the big bang.

I visited the Philippine Chapter's FB page, for a religious organization, it's sarcastic and self-depreciating.

I can only shake my head and smile. The FSM looks like a booby alien of sorts...no offense to legit followers. :)

there are thinkers adhering to the thinking that religion cannot be explained as faith is beyond intellectual comprehension. As such, God cannot be explained as God's unfathomable power is then relegated to measurements and comprehension if they do so.

There is a thin line between faith and craziness, in my worthless opinion

One thing is for sure: they will not hate you, or judge you, or k*ll you because you believe in something else. They will instead wear a pirate costume and eat pasta. :)

Nebraska judge rules FSMism isn't a real religion.  For once, a judge took the time to look it up.  :)

Why not giving it a chance to discover for yourself? Who knows it might be the answer to redeem everything including us, the sinners.
